Your #ImpactAtWork
Now is an exciting time to join the ‘s community of like-minded advocates.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is dedicated to bold, transformative actions that dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance the human rights of all people.
For 50 years, we鈥檝e worked as a catalyst for racial justice in the Deep South and beyond through innovative legal efforts, public education campaigns, and other forms of advocacy. Today, the organization is charting a course guided by clearly defined values and a renewed dedication to collaborating with partners across communities in the Deep South.
In the coming months, we鈥檙e implementing our 2021 Vision for a Just 糖心视频 plan, which promotes an equitable criminal justice system and a humane immigration system, expands ballot access, sustains healthier communities, and combats discrimination in schools and the workplace.
None of this work would be possible without the generous support of people like you. The SPLC neither accepts government funds nor do we ask for payment from those we serve.
The SPLC鈥檚 Intelligence Project uses investigative journalism to expose extremist groups 鈥 including neo-Nazis, neo-Confederates, anti-LGBTQ groups, anti-Muslim groups, anti-government militias, and others 鈥攖o minimize their influence in society. Not only do we carefully track active, domestic hate groups鈥攏ow numbering 838鈥攚e publish investigative reports and share key intelligence and expert analysis with Congress, the media, and the public.听
Our Learning for Justice program, formerly known as Teaching Tolerance, fosters equitable learning environments and supports social justice education by providing award-winning, anti-bias materials to teachers and schools nationwide. We are one of our nation鈥檚 leading providers of anti-bias resources 鈥 both in print and online. We know that justice is the heart of what we want for our young people and society at large.
Our resources that help students and educators grapple with the realities of systemic racism in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed way are more crucial now than ever. As calls grow to ban discussing how race and racism shape our society in a classroom setting, we will not slow our efforts to support educators as they tell the truth about our country’s history and navigate difficult conversations about systemic racism.
The SPLC鈥檚 Legal Working Groups stand up for victims of discrimination and hate. For more than four decades, we鈥檝e won landmark cases that brought systemic reforms in the Deep South. We鈥檝e toppled remnants of Jim Crow segregation and destroyed violent white supremacist groups. We鈥檝e shattered barriers to equality for women, vulnerable children, the LGBT community, and the disabled. We鈥檝e protected migrant workers and immigrants from abuse, ensured the humane treatment of prisoners, reformed juvenile justice practices, and more.
Today, with a staff of more than 100 lawyers and advocates, we鈥檙e focused on impact litigation in these practice areas: Children鈥檚 Rights, Economic Justice, Immigrant Justice, LGBTQ Rights, Voting Rights, and Criminal Justice Reform.
Our work focuses primarily on the Deep South, but we strategically seek cases worthy of class-action status and that set legal precedent, creating a national impact through systemic reform.
