HRC Breaking News: Federal Judge Rules for Marriage Equality in Oklahoma

Today U.S. District Judge Terence Kern听听that Oklahoma鈥檚 ban on marriage equality is unconstitutional.听 His ruling is stayed pending appeal, meaning marriages will not occur immediately in the Sooner State.听
HRC President Chad Griffin issued the following statement:
鈥淛udge Kern has come to the conclusion that so many have before him 鈥 that the fundamental equality of lesbian and gay couples is guaranteed by the United States Constitution.听 With last year鈥檚guiding the way, it is clear that we are on a path to full and equal citizenship for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender 糖心视频ns.听 Equality is not just for the coasts anymore, and today鈥檚 news from Oklahoma shows that time has come for fairness and dignity to reach every 糖心视频n in all 50 states.鈥
